It’s not as much about us, as it is about you and your children!

"When my children were little, my passion was finding ways to create fun together time with them and inspire a love learning! My new passion, now that they're all grown up, is designing 'simply perfect' products that make it 'perfectly simple' for you to do the same."
~ CC M. Owens
It's 'simply perfect' for any busy parent!
Hands-On Kits ‘n’ Kaboodles™ were developed over many years of striving to provide fun and educational activities for my children in our Vermont homeschool. But don't let the homeschool part scare you! As a home education and general parenting guru for sixteen plus years, I've consulted with hundreds of families in my local community. As you can well imagine, I've had the opportunity to get to know many different parents — from all walks of life — with lots of different parenting styles; some of whom homeschool their children, but many of whom choose a more conventional school path. What strikes me about all of them is that despite their vast differences, they seem to share three parenting struggles.
• First — Parenthood is chaotic! If you’re a parent, you’re a busy parent! And chances are, you’re always looking for ways to make life easier.
• Second — What is the one thing that all busy parents agree they’d like to have? Survey says — “More quality time with their children!”
• And finally — I have yet to meet one dedicated parent, concerned for their child’s future, who wouldn’t love to ensure academic successes.
At Homespun and Hands-On®, we understand these challenges for parents (just like you), so we’ve designed our unique products with you in mind! Hands-On Kits ‘n’ Kaboodles™ are ‘simply perfect’ for any busy parent because they make it ‘perfectly simple’ to create fun together time with children and inspire a love of learning. (No matter where they're educated — home or school!)

From Humble Beginnings in the Foothills of Vermont
Yes! I am the crazy Vermont mother who homeschooled three children until the day they packed their bags and left for college! What was I thinking? Whatever it was, I can honestly say that I have never once looked back with regret. Shortly after our homeschooling journey began, what I DID NOT want from homeschooling became quite apparent. I did not want to re-create school at home and I did not want my children to 'just' learn. What I wanted was for them to experience learning and love learning — I mean, really l-o-v-e learning! And I wanted to inspire that love of learning for them! The method to my madness? Project-based, hands-on learning — all created by me and conducted in our home. Thus the name — Homespun and Hands-On®!
We always took our Homespun and Hands-On® learning quite literally!
With my college background in art, communication, and graphic design — plus my employment experience in business management, manufacturing, marketing, teaching, and home education — for me the natural progression was to design and manufacture a product to share some of these project-based, hands-on learning experiences with other parents. I thought the best way to do that would be an all-inclusive kit — and we could call it a Hands-On Kit™. Oh! And wait there's more. I thought, "Wouldn't it be cool if the kit included a simple-to-use learning strategy?" We could call that a 'kaboodle'; then, we could say, "It's the whole kit 'n' kaboodle!" And that is how the Hands-On Kit 'n' Kaboodle™ came to be.
Homespun and Hands-On® isn’t the only thing to have flourished since my days of homeschooling either! My three precious children (pictured here in days gone by) are all successful college students now. Their hands-on learning experiences have helped each one of them become a young adult with a genuine love of learning who seeks knowledge with passion and zeal.

So, it's safe to say that quite a bit has changed in my life! I’m no longer homeschooling children anymore — well, not in my home anyway! I live in a big rambling empty nest, now that all my little birdies have flown away. I’m working harder than ever to help as many other parents as I possibly can to create fun together time for their families and inspire a love of learning for their children. And, slowly (very slowly) I’m becoming quite the social media maven — as I'm dragged into the 21st century kicking and screaming the whole way!
And then again, some things haven’t changed at all! I still dearly love my family — to whom I owe the idea for Homespun and Hands-On®. I am still extremely proud of my children — especially for the wonderful young adults they have become! I still greatly appreciate my husband’s patience and support — while I attempt to conquer the world! And I still live nestled in the foothills of Vermont with that wonderful husband — Charles; our little herd of goats — Callie, Sallie, Billy, and Nellie; and our two Cairn Terriers — Miss Lily Lu, and Miss Daisy Mae.
